The Program

Rooted in a deep respect for young people and families, much of the program is shaped by the collective.
What
-
A self-directed education (SDE) center and use tools, structures and philosophies from Agile Learning Centers.
-
Children have the freedom to pursue whatever activities, play, interests and learning they want to pursue.
-
We are a registered 501(c)3.
-
Since we are not a school, children must be homeschooling through a charter school or through a PSA (Private School affidavit). We can help you through this process (it's easy).

Who
-
For children between the ages of 5-14.
-
We center BIPOC voices and experiences.
-
We celebrate gender diversity.
-
We endeavor to be an inclusive space and are building our capacity to serve a wider spectrum of neurodiverse needs.
Where
-
Our plan is to be based at Arroyo Viejo Recreation Center in Oakland (subject to change).
Cost
-
As much as possible, we try to live the spirit of the gift economy. We’re a village that is collectively taking care of our children!
-
No family will be turned away for lack of funds.
-
To cover costs, we have a sliding-scale tuition:
-
$0-$2000 per month per child (payment due by the Friday of the first week of each month)
-
Families agree to contribute generously and equitably based on their family income and situation.
-
-
For more information about our sliding scale and financial contribution expectations, check out our breakdown here.
