Started with Nia as a facilitator bringing their love for Musicals and Black Joy and wee produced Annie & The Wiz; and then through partnership with Oakland Performing Arts Intensive and specialists Jorge and Saije, we've produced unique musicals—like Aaliyah in Wonderland and The Golden Tickets—that take known musicals and make them liberatory and relevant.
Young people are involved in choosing the script, rewriting the storyline, auditions, set design, costume design, creating flyers, creating the Playbill, and more. Soon, we're planning to write a full-length original musical. This year, the plan is to have a full Performing Arts days one day per week where kids can sign-up for and hone their dancing, singing, and acting skills, and perform in front of audiences.
